Affiliate Disclosure

1. The Short Version

Let’s keep this simple. tinkerDad() uses affiliate links and displays advertising to help keep the workshop lights on. If you click a link and buy a product, I may earn a small commission at absolutely no extra cost to you. That said, I only recommend tools, parts, and hardware I actually use and believe in. The builds come first; the links come second.

2. Amazon Associates Disclosure

tinkerDad() is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

What this means: When I link to a microcontroller, a spool of 3D printer filament, or a specific tool on Amazon, it is often an affiliate link. If you click that link and make a purchase, Amazon pays me a small percentage of the sale.

  • Your price never changes: You pay the exact same amount whether you use my affiliate link or navigate to Amazon directly.
  • Clear identification: Whenever an article or project contains affiliate links, I point it out clearly near the top of the post or explicitly next to the link so you aren’t guessing.
  • Genuine recommendations: I don’t link to junk just to make a buck. If a product is on this site, it’s because I’ve researched it, tested it, or used it on my own workbench.

3. Google AdSense Disclosure

tinkerDad() displays advertisements served by the Google AdSense network.

Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet. These cookies allow Google to display personalized advertising.

If you prefer not to see personalized ads, you can easily opt out by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.

4. Editorial Independence

Let me be absolutely clear about how things operate in this workshop: affiliate relationships do not influence the projects I build or the products I recommend.

  • I will never recommend a tool or part solely because it pays a high commission.
  • If a product fails, breaks easily, or is difficult to work with, I will say so honestly. Negative experiences are just as valuable as positive ones when you are trying to learn.
  • Trust is the most valuable thing I can build on this blog. That trust is worth infinitely more than any affiliate payout.

Transparency matters. You won’t have to navigate back to this legal page to figure out if a link is paying a commission.

On tinkerDad(), affiliate links are disclosed at the point of encounter. You will typically see a brief note at the top of a project tutorial (e.g., “Note: The parts list below contains affiliate links”), or an explicit marker like [Affiliate] next to individual text links.

6. FTC Compliance Statement

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) guidelines concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255). It is designed to ensure you understand the financial relationships between tinkerDad() and the companies whose products are discussed on this site.
